Ms. Myrick graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University in Shreveport and a Master’s degree from Cumberland University in Tennessee. She completed 30+ post graduate hours in Educational Leadership from Louisiana Tech University and Centenary College. She also earned an Education Specialist Degree along with a Reading Specialist certification from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Ms. Myrick began her teaching career in Memphis, Tennessee where she taught Grades 1-5. After teaching 11 years at Norris Elementary in Memphis, she moved to Vernon Parish where she taught 1st Grade at Pickering Elementary for 2 years. In 2003, Ms. Myrick moved back to Shreveport. After teaching at Oak Park Elementary for 1 year, she transferred to the Special Programs Center, serving as an itinerant dyslexia teacher for elementary students. In 2009, Ms. Myrick was promoted to the Instructional Coordinator position at Arthur Circle Elementary.
She is excited about the new school year as she continues her service as Principal. She enjoys working with students, parents, community leaders, and a dynamic team of educators and staff. Outside of her work, she enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and entertaining family and friends.
Julie Gootee, Instructional Coordinator
Mrs. Gootee is thrilled to be at Arthur Circle Elementary as the Instructional Coordinator. This is her 28th year in education; 22 of those years have been in Caddo Parish. She graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Louisiana Tech University and earned her plus 30 from Centenary College in Supervision of Instruction. Her goal is to provide your children with the best possible education by ensuring that the teachers have the resources and the knowledge necessary for effective instruction.
On a personal note, her family consists of her husband, Jack, and two children, Sydney and Zach. She also has two fur-babies, Chester and Lady. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and eating out.
Michelle Cummings-Shelby, COUNSELOR
Mrs. Cummings- Shelby is happy and excited about being a part of the Arthur Circle family. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Southern University in Baton Rouge and a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from LA Tech University. Mrs. Cummings-Shelby taught high school and middle school science in Webster Parish for seven years before becoming a Professional School Counselor in Caddo Parish in 2006. Mrs. Shelby worked at Ingersoll Elementary for 3 years and at Lakeshore Elementary for 5 years before coming to Arthur Circle.
In Mrs. Cummings-Shelby’s spare time, she loves spending time with her husband and three children.
